About the kitchen

Written from the kitchen,
not the clinic.

Food & Mood is an independent magazine about eating and how a day actually feels — steady energy, calm evenings, brighter mornings, shorter fuses. Not diets, not cures, not clinical anything. Just the ordinary, well-documented ways that what is on the plate shapes the hours around it.

The mood pantry

Everything we publish is shelved twice. The first cut is by mood — five colour-coded shelves, from Calm & Steady to Irritable & Short-fused — because that is how days actually arrive. The second cut is by ingredient, because that is how kitchens actually work.

How we write

Measured and evidence-based, in a food-magazine voice. Where the science is modest we say so; where a claim is really just physiology doing something ordinary, we say that too. Every story ends with the same standing line, and it applies to the whole site: general guidance about everyday food and mood — not medical advice. If something about how you feel is persistent or heavy, a GP or registered dietitian is the right room, not a recipe.

The Larder

The strip at the foot of the kitchen is our supporters’ shelf — a small, hand-kept row of partners who help keep the site independent. Interested? Get in touch.
